Frequently asked questions
How GeoStamp reads your photos, what the templates can do, and what the purchase includes.
The app
What does GeoStamp do?
GeoStamp reads the information your camera already saved inside a photo (the date and time, the GPS position, the camera and lens) and sets it on the picture as a good-looking stamp. It can add the place name and a small map of the spot, plus a caption or your own logo. You pick one of 20 templates or design your own, then export the stamped photos in full resolution.
Which devices does GeoStamp run on?
GeoStamp runs on Android, iPhone, iPad and Mac. On Apple devices it is one universal app for iOS 26, iPadOS 26 and macOS 26 or later. On Android it needs Android 10 or later and comes from Google Play.
Is GeoStamp free?
Yes. Every template, the editor and full-resolution export are free. Free exports carry a small “Created with GeoStamp” badge. A one-time purchase of €1.99 (prices vary by country) removes the badge for good. It is bought separately in the App Store and on Google Play. There is no subscription.
Which languages does GeoStamp speak?
English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese. The app follows your device language, and place names are written in that language too.
Photos and metadata
Where do the date and location come from?
From the photo itself. Cameras and phones store the capture date, time and, if location was turned on, the GPS coordinates inside the image file (as EXIF data). GeoStamp reads those values. It never uses your current location.
Why is there no location on my photo?
The photo most likely has no GPS data. That happens when location access was off for the Camera app, with screenshots and most scanned images, and with pictures you received through messengers or social networks, which often strip location data. GeoStamp simply leaves out any field the photo doesn’t have.
Tip: in the Photos app you can add or correct a location with Adjust Location and fix the time with Adjust Date & Time. Pick the photo in GeoStamp again afterwards.
How does GeoStamp find the place name and the map?
On iPhone, iPad and Mac it asks Apple Maps. On Android the place name comes from the phone’s geocoding service (usually Google’s) and the map image from Esri map tiles. Only the photo’s coordinates are sent, never the photo. This needs an internet connection. Offline, the place name and map are left out and everything else still works.
Does GeoStamp change my original photo?
No. GeoStamp exports a new, stamped copy and leaves the original untouched.
Does the exported photo keep its metadata?
Yes. The stamped copy keeps the original date, location and camera details, so it still sorts correctly and shows up on the map in Photos. If you’d rather not share the location, turn it off in the share sheet under Options before sending.
Which formats and resolutions can I export?
Full resolution, as HEIC or JPEG. Save straight to Photos, share them, or write them to a folder.
Can I stamp a whole trip at once?
Yes. Pick as many photos as you like. Each one gets its own date, place and map, and you export them all in one go.
Templates and editor
Which templates are included?
20: Travel Journal, Documentation, Classic Corner, Film Stamp, Postcard, Field Notes, Explorer, Camera Info, Map Pin, Summit, Road Trip, Night Owl, Instant Photo, Postmark, Widescreen, Neon, Golden Hour, Logbook, Coordinates and Watermark. Each one is a starting point you can change or copy in the template editor.
Can I design my own template?
Yes. Start from scratch or from any template, then choose which details appear, the font, size, weight and colour, the position on the photo and a symbol. A live preview shows every change. Your designs are saved under My Templates.
Can I add my own logo or watermark?
Yes. Add any picture, such as your logo or signature, plus a caption. The Watermark template is a good place to start.
Purchase and privacy
What does the in-app purchase do?
It removes the “Created with GeoStamp” badge from every export, forever. It’s a single payment of €1.99 (or the local equivalent), not a subscription.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Open the purchase screen and tap Restore. On the Mac, Restore Purchase sits in the window’s toolbar. Make sure you’re signed in with the same Apple Account you bought with. On Android, sign in with the same Google account and open the purchase screen; the purchase is restored automatically.
Does GeoStamp collect my data?
No. There’s no account, no tracking and no analytics, and your photos never leave your device. The only network requests are the place name and map lookups described above. The full details are in the privacy policy.
